DIY Rainbow Sensory Recipes Melbourne
The Sensory Specialist loves all things Sensory Play - These are some of our favourite recipes you can make with things at home.
Below are a few of our favourite, quick and easy DIY activities you can make at home! Most importantly, these recipes use non-toxic ingredient pantry items, making them safe for little mouths.
Home made Play Dough Recipe
In a bowl, combine:
- 1 1/2 cups of Plain Flour
- 2 Tbs Vegetable Oil
- 2 Tbs Cream of Tartar
- 1/2 cup of Salt
Add several drops of food colouring to 1 cup of boiling water. To add an extra sensory element, consider adding a few drops of an essential oil such as mandarin or peppermint to the mix to give the play dough a scent.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients, and knead together until it's a smooth play dough consistency.
Expert tip - For long lasting storage - add a splash of vegetable oil to the play dough and store it in a zip lock bag.
